Zeiss announced a new member of it’s Loxia lens line this morning, the Loxia 2.4/25, a compact manual-focus lens for Sony E-mount cameras. Like all the members of the Loxia line, the 25mm f/2.4 has an elegant design, metal body, and smooth focus ring, making it ideal for photographers (or film makers) looking for a discreet lens while shooting on the street or a lightweight lens while hiking in the back-country.
The Loxia 25mm f/2.4 uses a new optical design based on ten elements in 8 groups, including an aspheric rear element and two more special glass elements. Despite the number of elements and metal build, the lens still weighs less than a pound and is just under three inches long (without cap and lens hood).
In addition to the new lens, the Loxia line consists of a 21mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 85mm.
Price & Availability
When the lens begins shipping in March, it is expected to cost $1299. Europeans will pay €1,299.
