We first heard about the Tamron 100-400 f/4.5-6.3 Di VC USD lens last month, but today at the PhotoPlus Expo, Tamron has announced an official release date, price and further details.
Tamron’s lens features dual micro-processor units (MPU) to improve image stabilization and autofocus. Today, Tamron has updated the details of the lens to specify a 4-stop advantage over non-stabilized lenses.
The lens will be available in Canon and Nikon mounts on November 16th for $799 in the Unites States. This is right in line with the similar Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3, which was also launched at $799, but can now be found for about $50 less.
