This morning, Zeiss announced three new additions to their rapidly expanding “Milvus” line of lenses: a super-wide 15mm f/2.8, a super-wide 18mm f/2.8, and a short telephoto 135mm f/2 portrait lens. All lenses will be available in full-frame Canon and Nikon mounts. Perfect for high-end DSLRs and for shooting 4K and higher resolution video, the trio are designed for fine manual focus control and the apertures can be “de-clicked” for smooth transitions while filming.
Prices & Availability
As is the case with all Zeiss lenses, prices are best considered with the aid of a stiff drink. The 15mm f/2.8 will be available in the US for $2699, while the 18mm f/2.8 will cost a modest $2299. The 135mm f/2 is a bargain at only $2199. But never fear, my friends! Zeiss has taken your financial well-being into consideration: buy any five lenses in the Milvus line, and Mr. Zeiss will give you a 10% discount. The new lenses will ship near the end of October.
