A long time favorite with street and travel photographers, the Fujifilm X100 camera series took a step forward this afternoon with the addition of the Fuji X100V, the 5th generation in the line. The camera has been improved with the latest generation 26 megapixel X-trans sensor and X-Processor 4 and an excellent new hybrid viewfinder. The camera will be capable of shooting 4K 30fps and 1080p 120fps video as well.
The fixed lens is still a 23mm f/2, but its optics have been re-designed for higher resolution and closer focusing, and it’s internal neutral density filter now reaches 4 full f-stops. The combination of the new lens and processor provide face and eye-detection AF down to -5EV light levels.
Fuji did not state a timeframe for shipping in their press release, but both Adorama and B&H claim that they will begin shipping March 31st. Pre-orders are available from both websites for about $1399, with the camera finish in either black or silver.
