A new lens appeared on several official Nikon sites around the world today: the AF-S Nikkor 18-300 f/3.5-5.6 VR. An official press release is still forthcoming. Typically, lenses with long zoom ranges (particularly from wide-angle to telephoto) suffer from a variety of optical flaws at different parts of the zoom range, but Nikon has tried to mitigate these flaws in their new offering by adding three ED glass elements: two in the front group, and one in the focusing group. The lens also features Nikon’s latest generation of “Vibration Reduction”, and a zoom-lock switch.
